Completes PhD Thesis on Enterprise Risk Management and Receives an International Prize
Madhusudan Acharyya has recently completed a study on Enterprise Risk Management at the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom towards the fulfillment of the requirements of the Doctor of Philosophy under the supervision of Professor Johnnie Johnson. The thesis empirically investigated the ERM of four major European Re/insurers.
In another major achievement, a paper based on the study, which is titled as “Investigating the Development of Enterprise Risk Management in the Insurance Industry: An Empirical Study of Four Major European Insurers,” was awarded the prestigious SIN Research Excellence Award for Insurance Scholarship. The cash prize of US$10,000 was presented by The Geneva Association in partnership with the International Insurance Society on July 2006 with an understanding that this research might be of relevance for the insurance industry. Moreover, the paper, written jointly with Professor Johnnie Johnson, has been published in a special issue of The Geneva Papers on Risk and Insurance: Issues and Practice. >>DOWNLOAD ABSTRACT
